Alexey Mashkow is an award-winning Russian tattoo artist turned fine artist whose signature style is photo-realistic portraiture whose subjects are covered in vandalism akin to any New York City street. The comparison between fine art, tattoos, and graffiti in Mashkow’s work becomes apparent as human figures and urban scenes are embellished with tags, stickers and throws. His work appears as an homage to the vibrance of a raw city existence where one's self and surroundings are decorated up to anyone's discretion.
Mashkow has been featured in World Star HipHop, Juxtapoz, CNBC, Insider, and Vulture among numerous other publications. In 2022, Mashkow created his solo exhibition ARE U REAL in collaboration with “Are u Real” crew featuring beat maker HEARSE T from England presented by Superchief Gallery NFT.
